Jimmy Shand playing his Hohner Morino 3-row button accordion
Even after doing a long tiring shift down the coalmine, Jimmy still made time to practise two or three tunes on the box every day.

Its ruins and historic past, its kale and ither yairds
But still mair famous it becomes and admired throughout the land
In Weymss was born and bred a lad called Jimmy Shand

I met him at the puir hoose mony years ago
A stripling he was awfay blait and feared to tak his bow
But on the stage he stampit, man his fingerin it was grand
I could see the very hallmark stampit on the lad called Jimmy Shand
